VICTORIA—Scottie Barnes, it is widely assumed, is destined for NBA greatness, a burgeoning all-star who still has plenty of room to grow despite a stellar rookie season with the Raptors.
What he needs to do is not exactly quantifiable — every facet of his game could use at least a little work — nor is it possible to predict when he will get to that next level. But he’s headed in that direction, all agree.
“It’s early. It will happen,” Fred VanVleet said of Barnes’s ascent to true stardom.
