Leafs win streak ends – with controversy

The Maple Leafs’ six-game winning streak came to an end with 4-1 loss to the Arizona Coyotes at Air Canada Centre on Monday night.

A controversial call late in the third period disallowed what looked to be the tying goal by Auston Matthews. As Matthews and the Leafs celebrated, the Coyotes challenged the play for goalie interference.

Zach Hyman had pushed Antti Raanta into the net with his stick, but the point of contention was whether Raanta had time to reset into a position to make the save. Upon video review, the officials waived off the goal, preserving the Coyotes’ 2-1 lead.
