Toronto FC goalkeeper Clint Irwin substituted with nasty knee injury

Toronto FC’s goalkeeping debate may be over for at least a little while.

Clint Irwin was substituted in the first half of the Reds’ home opener against Sporting Kansas City with what looked to be a painful knee injury after landing awkwardly on his left foot.

Irwin had saved from Dom Dwyer inside the six-yard box but after stretching out his right leg to make the save, his left boot appeared to catch the turf and twist.

The 27-year-old tried to get back to his feet but immediately went down again and was replaced by Alex Bono after consulting with a physio.
