Consecutive Saturdays in 2019 turned the Toledo football program upside-down, back-to-back haunting losses that linger today.
The Rockets lost as 26½-point favorites to archrival Bowling Green on Oct. 12. Blemished and beleaguered, UT hit rock bottom the next week in a 52-14 loss at Ball State. A season that included wins over BYU, Colorado State, and Western Michigan quickly veered off track as Toledo finished 6-6, its first .500 or worse season in a decade.
A sequel is in the works, and Jason Candle is trying to prevent its release.
“We know what we’re getting ourselves into,” the Toledo coach said.
