How a lime green dot changed the game for Toledo football

From commemorative decals to country flags to player numbers, it's rare to see a college football helmet without stickers.

A small lime green dot on select helmets, however, has changed the game.

It identifies players who have radio communication with their coaches on the sidelines. For the University of Toledo, that’s quarterback Tucker Gleason and safety Braden Awls.

“It was a learning experience not only for me but for coach [Jason] Candle as well,” Gleason said. “Learning when he should talk to me, when he can talk to me, and what kind of things he should be saying definitely took a little bit of an adjustment.
