Gonzaga's 3-point shooting sinks Toledo women's basketball in home opener

With five minutes left in the game, Kendall Carruthers tied the game at 56. Gonzaga, however, then showed why it’s the 18th ranked 3-point shooting team in the country.

Bulldogs’ sophomores Teryn Gardner and Allie Turner, who went a combined six of nine from deep, handed the University of Toledo its first 0-2 start since 2015 on Sunday at Savage Arena, winning 72-69.

“We showed a lot of fight tonight and that's one that we really want to put away in front of our home crowd moving forward,” Toledo coach Ginny Boggess said. “I think we have an incredibly talented group of young women who are just learning to communicate with one another and play together.
