There exists a mounting narrative that anything short of the Cleveland Indians winning the World Series will be a disappointment.
Which is sort of true.
But it has nothing to do with The Streak.
Rather than assign big-picture meaning to an inherently random occurrence, let us appreciate Cleveland’s American League-record 22 game winning streak for what it was.
A once-in-a-lifetime joyride.
A team wins the World Series every year, but chances are we’ll never again see a team sweep through three consecutive weeks in a near-coin-flip sport.
