Rangers fall to A's, now 5 1/2 back in AL WC

OAKLAND -- The A's pushed the Rangers to the brink of elimination by completing a three-game sweep with a 8-1 victory on Sunday afternoon at the Coliseum. The Athletics have won seven straight and 14 of their last 17 games.

This is their longest winning streak since winning nine in a row in April of 2013. They have also won eight straight games at home against the Rangers.

With the Twins winning again, the Rangers are now 5 1/2 games back in the race for the second Wild Card spot. They are five games behind in the loss column with seven to play.
