Texas' mash-up senior class wants to be remembered for going bowling, not a 'mediocre' legacy

AUSTIN - Approaching his last regular-season game at Texas, senior linebacker Naashon Hughes experienced first-hand just how elusive winning can be.

During his redshirt season in 2013, he watched the Longhorns play Baylor for the Big 12 title and a bid to the Fiesta Bowl. Then coach Mack Brown get dismissed because an eventual 8-5 finish wasn't viewed as nearly good enough.

Three consecutive losing seasons followed under Charlie Strong, who was then fired.

Now in Tom Herman's debut season, Texas is finally headed back to a bowl for the first time since 2014. If the Longhorns can beat Texas Tech on Friday and then win the bowl game, it could finish .
