The 2020 Texas football recruiting class had a key target in sight that was a decommitment of the Ole Miss Rebels, with three-star outside linebacker Jaqwondis Burns. But Burns didn’t take the Texas offer he got recently and act on it. He wound up announcing his commitment to join head coach P.J. Fleck and the Minnesota Golden Gophers 2020 recruiting class, on Dec. 14.
The commitment of Burns to Minnesota over the likes of the Texas Longhorns football program, Utah Utes, Colorado Buffaloes, and Louisville Cardinals. He also held offers from other significant programs like the Arkansas Razorbacks, Baylor Bears, Kansas State Wildcats, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Houston Cougars, SMU Mustangs, Tennessee Volunteers, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Virginia Cavaliers.
