The quarterback room for the Texas football program started to get a bit thin at the outset of the 2019 offseason. The Texas Longhorns football program even lost one of its quarterbacks to the NCAA Transfer Portal before the 2019 college football offseason officially began after the Sugar Bowl win over the Georgia Bulldogs.
Two of the quarterbacks that Longhorns actually wound up losing included redshirt junior Shane Buechele (landed with the SMU Mustangs) and redshirt freshman Cameron Rising (sitting out one year with the Utah Utes). The other of the three quarterbacks that all put their names in the transfer portal last offseason wound up returning to the Forty Acres, with redshirt freshman Casey Thompson.
