LUBBOCK, Texas - Senior Texas guard Ariel Atkins scored a game-high 22 points to lead No. 9 Texas past Texas Tech, 90-39, on Saturday at United Supermarkets Arena.
The Longhorns dominated the court on Saturday afternoon, winning by 51 points and leading for 37:03. The team was 17-for-23 in free throws (73.9 percent) and shot 35-for-71 in field goals (49.3 percent).
The 51-point win over Texas Tech takes over as the largest margin of victory in a Big 12 game. The previous high was 43 points set on February 23 2005, when Texas beat Colorado, 83-40.
