Longhorns announce $4.25 million renovation project for basketball facilities, arena

Texas head coach Tom Herman made headlines this past offseason for his expensive renovations to the Longhorns' football facilities.

Now Texas basketball coach Shaka Smart is picking up where Herman left off. The program announced a variety of upgrades to both the Frank Erwin Center, the Longhorns' home arena, and the team's practice facilities Thursday. The renovations will cost $4.25 million, according to Texas Athletics.

"The upgrades to the Texas Basketball facilities demonstrate the commitment that The University of Texas has to both basketball programs," athletics director Mike Perrin said.
