How quick thinking from Texas A&M's medical staff prevented a tragedy similar to Maryland's

University of Maryland officials stood in front of reporters on Tuesday to apologize for the death of a football player that never should have happened.

During Maryland's offseason workouts, offensive lineman Jordan McNair reportedly collapsed during a team workout and later died because of complications from a heat stroke. At Tuesday's news conference, athletic director Damon Evans said McNair's condition was "misdiagnosed" and lacked an appropriate response.

Quick thinking from Texas A&M's medical staff earlier this year likely prevented a similar tragedy from occurring in College Station. After former senior offensive lineman Koda Martin suffered a heatstroke following a spring practice, immediate actions allowed Martin to make a full recovery three days later.
