In the AP poll, A&M leapfrogged idle teams like Florida, Cincinnati and Penn State, and also benefitted from No. 5 North Carolina getting upset by Florida State. In the Coaches Poll, Florida and Penn State both remained ahead of the Aggies (the Florida ranking being particularly puzzling).
