The SEC Media preseason picks came out Friday morning, and to nobody’s surprise, the Alabama Crimson Tide were the overwhelming favorites to win the conference with the Georgia Bulldogs as favorites in the East. Tennessee football, meanwhile, came in at No. 6 in the East. But again, this is no surprise.
What is a surprise, though, is the little number in parentheses next to the Vols’ name. If you look at that (1), it signals first place finishes. So somebody has the Vols, with a new head coach, new systems on both sides of the ball and lots of new talent coming off a 4-8 season, winning the East.
