Report: Rays "talking and willing" to trade David Price, Cardinals favorites?

In this breaking Rays rumors and news update, the Tampa Bay Rays aren't done shopping starting pitcher David Price as many analysts have indicated over the past few days.

In fact, per Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, "colleagues suggest (Rays GM Andrew) Friedman has the guts to deal Price when the team has rallied from nowhere to the cusp of the AL pennant race. A few even suggest that he may prefer to pull the trigger."

With the risk mounting that a deal could end up fracturing the clubhouse during the final two months of the season, one Rays-connected source has asserted that such a possibility isn't halting talks in the least.

"We are talking and willing. [We'll] see if any teams have the desire," the source said, via Heyman's article on Tuesday night.

According to USA TODAY's Bob Nightengale, the latest trade rumors would see the St. Louis Cardinals acquire the former CY Young Award winner for top hitting prospect Oscar Taveras, coveted young arm Shelby Miller, and their recently-acquired competitive balance pick.

In the eyes of rival executives cited by Heyman, the Rays could be very tempted to pull the trigger on such a deal. Whether it will happen before Thursday's non-waiver trade deadline remains to be seen.
