NHL Draft: Lightning trade J.T. Miller to Vancouver

The Lightning traded J.T. Miller to Vancouver during the second round of the draft.

Julien BriseBois said the Lightning wouldn’t consider need in its draft picks, but that doesn’t mean he’s not thinking of this season. This move opens some much-needed salary cap space for Tampa Bay.

Miller has four more years on his contract at $5.25 million and was one of few Lightning players without a no-trade clause.

In return, the Lightning received a third-round draft pick (71st overall) and a conditional first-round pick for next year (slides to 2021 if the Canucks don’t make the playoffs), as well as an AHL veteran goaltender.
