With two weeks to prepare for the North Carolina Tar Heels, there was hope that the Syracuse Orange would be able to right the ship and pick up win No. 5 after two consecutive losses.
While Syracuse struggled for most of the afternoon on Saturday, they wound up coming from behind to beat UNC anyway, 40-34 in double overtime behind a phenomenal effort from Tommy DeVito.
The Orange are now 5-2 (2-2), surpassing four wins for the first time since 2013. North Carolina drops to 1-5 (1-3).
Early on, the Orange failed to really move the ball, sputtering through quick drives and questionable play-calling before finally getting on the board with an Andre Szmyt field goal early in the second quarter.
