Dominick Parker’s preliminary hearing waived

Former Syracuse freshman walk-on Dominick Parker appeared in Syracuse City Court Thursday morning, when his preliminary hearing was waived. His next court appearance has not yet been set.

Sometimes, the defense may waive the right to a preliminary hearing because the defendant plans to plead guilty and wants to avoid publicity. Parker was arrested and charged Friday with sexual abuse in the first degree, according to a release Wednesday from the Syracuse Police Department.

Parker, 18, was accused of having sexual contact on Sept. 15 with an 18-year-old female “while she was incapable of giving consent to such contact,” according to SPD.
