Sharks improve to 3-0 in exhibition season

Sharks defenseman Tim Heed scored the decisive goal in the fifth round of the shootout as San Jose remained unbeaten in the exhibition season by defeating the Arizona Coyotes 5-4 on Saturday in Glendale, Ariz.

Mikkel Boedker scored two first-period goals for the Sharks, who rebounded after allowing the first three goals in the opening 9:15 of play. Barclay Goodrow and Kevin Labanc added second-period goals for San Jose (3-0).

The Sharks have three exhibitions remaining before their Oct. 4 regular-season opener against Philadelphia.
