SAN JOSE — A glimmering new arena right off The Strip. An impressive season ticket base. A roster that has its share of recognizable names.
The expansion Vegas Golden Knights are here, and already the franchise appears to be miles ahead of where the Sharks were 26 years ago when they first came into the NHL.
Not only did Vegas get to pick from a deeper pool of talent for its expansion draft this past June than the Sharks did in 1991, the Golden Knights have reportedly sold 14,000 season tickets. Owner Bill Foley claimed in a July interview with Forbes magazine that the team’s revenue for this year will be among the top 10 in the NHL.
