New SF Giants manager Tony Vitello has reportedly made the first hire to his coaching staff. According to Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic, former San Diego Padres manager Jayce Tingler is set to join the Giants’ coaching staff.

The Giants and former Padres managers is just a tradition that the club cannot quit. They have had some obvious successes, with Bruce Bochy coming over from San Diego after the 2006 season. That worked out pretty nicely for San Francisco.
On the other hand, Bob Melvin joined the Giants after a two-year run with the Padres.
