SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — For the first time since pitchers and catchers reported to camp in Scottsdale on February 11, Giants players had a day off on Thursday.
A day without baseball was planned from the time the Cactus League scheduled was released last year, but no one expected what lies ahead.

Major League Baseball announced Thursday it is suspending spring training games and delaying the start of the 2020 regular season at least two weeks “due to the national emergency created by the coronavirus pandemic.”
For now, the Giants are awaiting word from the league on how to proceed.
