But the trade deadline is approaching (Friday at 1 p.m.), which means contenders are going to start adding pieces necessary for a deep postseason run. The teams directly behind the Giants have no qualms about spending on improvements to try and catch up. The San Diego Padres already added Adam Frazier from the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the deep pockets of the Los Angeles Dodgers are a near-certainty to enter the fray.
