Johnny Cueto strong again in Giants victory

SAN FRANCISCO — Johnny Cueto’s comeback from Tommy John surgery continues to be an unqualified success.

The 33-year-old right-hander pitched his second scoreless start since returning to the majors Sunday and the Giants beat the Miami Marlins 2-1 after Mike Yastrzemski scored on a wild pitch in the eighth inning.

With a crowd of 39,663 at Oracle Park for Star Wars Brandon Crawford bobblehead giveaway day, the force was definitely with Cueto again. He allowed the leadoff hitter on base each of the first four innings, but worked his way out of trouble each time.

On a 70-pitch limit, Cueto was sent back to the mound in the fifth with 65 deliveries already in the book.
