Giants’ rookie gets a battery-mate boost — and Garcia even helps him with bat

SAN FRANCISCO — As Shaun Anderson made his Major League debut Wednesday, he could take solace in the friendly face behind the dish.

Aramis Garcia has caught the bulk of Anderson’s starts for Triple-A Sacramento since the 24-year-old right-hander was acquired from Boston in 2017 — serving as a key piece of the Eduardo Nunez trade.

Now Garcia was there for the Giants’ top pitching prospect’s big league debut — and even did his part to support him with the bat, hitting a two-run homer to left in the second.

“What I love about Shaun is that he just goes out there and competes,” Garcia said before the game.
