With tight end George Kittle out and wideout Emmanuel Sanders exiting early, rookie wide receiver Deebo Samuel provided a pass-catching spark for the San Francisco 49ers in a dramatic 36-26 win against the Cardinals on Sunday in San Francisco.
Samuel — who had eight catches for 112 yards in Monday’s 27-24 overtime loss to the Seahawks — matched his career high eight grabs, but this time for a career-best 133 receiving yards, including what may have been the catch of the year.
Matched up against eight-time Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson in the fourth quarter, Samuel caught a 23-yard first down pass from Jimmy Garoppolo in absolutely spectacular fashion.
