The 49ers aren't using a quarterback to simulate Ravens QB Lamar Jackson on their scout team

Through 11 games, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is 1) tied for the NFL lead with 24 touchdown passes, 2) on pace to run for 1,280 yards — the most ever for a QB, 3) on pace to pass for 3,536 yards, and third in the league with a 111.4 passer rating.

So how exactly do you prepare for him if you're the San Francisco 49ers defense?

Not with a quarterback, apparently.

According to NBC Sports 49ers beat writer Jennifer Lee Chan, the Niners are using 5-foot-9, 185-pound wide receiver Richie James Jr. as their scout team quarterback to simulate Jackson.
