SANTA CLARA — Wide receiver Jalen Hurd and cornerback Jason Verrett, two of the 49ers’ more intriguing X-factors for this season, went on injured reserve Thursday.
They’re technically eligible to return this season in the 49ers’ two short-term IR spots, but those seemingly already were ticketed for wide receiver Trent Taylor and defensive tackle Kentavius Street.
Hurd has been sidelined since six weeks with what the team called a “stress reaction” in his back, failing to finish an Aug.
