The San Francisco 49ers are making negotiations for a new deal with Pro Bowl defensive tackle DeForest Buckner a priority in 2019.
Their 2016 first-round NFL Draft pick has consistently been the team’s best defender the past three seasons. Finally recognized nationally for his efforts last year, it’s only natural the Niners lock him up with a long-term deal before his rookie contract finally expires.
Simply put, Buckner is going to get paid. And deservedly so.
Recently, San Francisco also inked veteran left tackle Joe Staley to a two-year extension.
