After Travis d’Arnaud signing, teams could turn to Padres for catching help

The market for catchers has been on fire recently, and that could increase the chances that the San Diego Padres make a move soon.

In the past week, the Chicago White Sox have signed the top free agent catcher in Yasmani Grandal to a four-year $73 million deal, while the Atlanta Braves signed possibly the second-best free agent catcher in Travis d’Arnaud to a two-year $16 million contract.

For teams who are looking to acquire a catcher this offseason, two of the biggest names are now off the board.

That could force those teams to turn their attention to the trade market where the Padres have some intriguing trade candidates.
