Arsene Wenger says he is not sending a message to Alexis Sanchez by giving him 90 minutes in League Cup clash with Doncaster: 'I'm just trying to get him back to full fitness'

Arsene Wenger insists his decision to play Alexis Sanchez in the League Cup and not the Premier League is nothing more than an attempt to get his striker fit.

Sanchez, left out of the starting XI for the trip to Chelsea last weekend, played 90 minutes in a low-profile win over Doncaster Rovers on Wednesday night.

He also started the game in the Europa League against Cologne last week, leaving some to suggest that Wenger was making a point to Sanchez about his commitment to the club.
