The Portland Timbers lost 2-1 to Real Salt Lake on Saturday night at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah. Timbers midfielder Diego Valeri scored a goal in his eighth-straight match (and his 18th overall), setting a new MLS record.
The result keeps the Timbers in second place in the Western Conference, just one point behind leaders Vancouver Whitecaps FC. After their two game road trip, the Timbers will now return to Providence Park where they will play host to Orlando City SC on Sunday, September 23 (5:00pm PT, FS1).
