Even without the services of veteran outside linebacker Alex Highsmith Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Pittsburgh Steelers tapped into the three-OLB look at times defensively. It led to a great deal of success in the 34-12 win at Acrisure Stadium.
T.J. Watt, Nick Herbig and rookie Jack Sawyer created ample pressure and disrupted the timing of the Bengals’ passing attack with 40-year-old quarterback Joe Flacco, doing so consistently with the three-OLB look throughout the game on the North Shore.
For Herbig, who spoke to reporters after the win following his performance in which he recorded a sack, the three-OLB package was awesome to play.
