Report: Growing optimism within the Steelers organization of a Ben Roethlisberger return

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a big time decision awaiting them in the way they handle the future of Ben Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger said after the team’s playoff loss to the Cleveland Browns he would talk with his family about his future, but if the team would be willing to have him back he would play out the extent of his contract.

Simple enough, however the decision would be huge for the Steelers’ salary cap. If Roethlisberger plays he would count $41 million towards the 2021 salary cap. If the team, or Roethlisberger, decide not to play next season he would save the team around $19 million on the cap.
