When he was drafted, it felt like RB Kaleb Johnson was a perfect fit for Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith’s system. Exiting 2025, it’s harder to see how he can simply exist in it.
With Johnson an afterthought in the offense all season, Post-Gazette beat writer Ray Fittipaldo isn’t confident things get better in the future.
“I’m not sure how Johnson fits in if Arthur Smith remains as coordinator,” Fittipaldo wrote during a Tuesday chat.
Fittipaldo stopped short of calling Johnson a bust. But his career is off to an ominous start. Through 12 games, the third-round pick has just 24 carries for 61 yards and two total first downs.
