NFL Free Agency is officially here, and the next few days will feature a few Pittsburgh Steelers rumors. The Steelers have made a few moves early, and they might not be done yet. With that in mind, here are all of the interesting rumors and news tidbits on the Steelers.
So much for Weddle joining the Steelers. He's heading to the divisonal rival Baltimore Ravens instead.
Eric Weddle Update
The former San Diego Chargers safety is arguably the top player left on the market, and he's getting closer to deciding where he'll sign.
Update on Eric Weddle. Negotiations went on through the night. Down to 3 teams. An agreement is expected w/one in next 24 hours. @NFLonFOX— Peter Schrager (@PSchrags) March 14, 2016
The four teams are reportedly to be the Cowboys, Raiders, Ravens and Steelers. The Steelers could use Weddle as the team's free safety, pairing him with Mike Mitchell. Pittsburgh is tight on cap space, so Weddle might need to take less money to join the team.
Russell Okung Visit
The Steelers could lose tackle Kelvin Beachum this offseason, but might replace him with Russell Okung.
Russell Okung has offers on table from Lions, Steelers and Giants. Talking to PIT OL coach Mike Munchak today. No other visits for now— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) March 14, 2016
Okung is representing himself in free agency, and that's likely why he hasn't signed yet. Okung is talented, but injuries have limited his playing time, especially in recent seasons.
Could Steelers Lose Steve McLendon?
The New York Jets are getting a visit from a Steelers NG Steve McLendon.
Steelers NT Steve McLendon is on a visit today with the NY Jets.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 14, 2016
The Jets lost Damon Harrison to the Giants this offseason. McLendon would be a much cheaper option for New York, although he didn't play great last season. If McLendon leaves, the Steelers would likely turn to Daniel McCullers, a sixth round pick on 2014.Back to the Pittsburgh Steelers Newsfeed
