LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — The balancing act continues.

Saturday, Sean Rodriguez echoed a fan concern that has grown in the past several years — a questioning of the actions of the Pirates front office, actions by those above general manager Neal Huntington.

“I know there’s a business side to it,” Rodriguez said at PiratesFest. “I don’t know who’s at the forefront of it. Um, I kind of do. And I’m not taking shots at Neal [Huntington], that’s for sure, because it’s not necessarily him.”

As Huntington negotiates with agents and other front offices this week at the winter meetings, he is operating under the constraints to which Rodriguez alluded: The budget allowed by owner Bob Nutting.
