Ian Cole took 10 days off this summer and feels terrific

Ian Cole decided to try something new this summer.

Moderation.

After blocking 256 shots when you combine the regular season and playoffs — only Edmonton’s Kris Russel had more — Cole decided he didn't need to do things in huge quantities and tweaked his offseason routine.

Instead of taking more time off, Cole actually took less. No four-to-six weeks of decompressing; Cole said he began working out again roughly 10 days after hoisting the Stanley Cup for a second consecutive season.

“It’s the first time I’ve done that, and I feel awesome,” Cole said. “I feel great.
