Centers in camp give Jim Rutherford plenty to think about

Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford hasn't solved his third-line center conundrum.

Or has he?

It's still early, but that's one of several questions on Rutherford’s mind entering the second week of training camp.

Rutherford has been impressed by Teddy Blueger, Adam Johnson and Greg McKegg, along with potential fourth-line pivot, Jay McClement, in Pittsburgh on a “professional tryout opportunity.” At the same time, Rutherford hasn’t given up on a potential third-line center trade. The strong camps put forth thus far by those four have simply made Rutherford think.

“Given the way those centermen have played early in camp, those guys are going to fight for one of those open spots,” Rutherford said Thursday.
