Coyotes well aware of challenge ahead in MacKinnon, Avalanche

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are uncharted territory for the Coyotes. After defeating Nashville 3-1 in game four of their play-in series on Friday, the team punched its ticket into the playoffs for the first time since 2012.

It's been awhile since the team competed for The Cup, but the Coyotes are very aware of their opponent. Led by Heart Trophy candidate Nathan MacKinnon , the Coyotes will face the second seeded Colorado Avalanche, a team that has been favorite to win the Stanley Cup this season.

"They're highly skilled, hard on the puck, top 10 in most categories and they have arguably the best player in the league," head coach Rick Tocchet said.
