Coyotes extend defenseman Dysin Mayo with 3-year contract

The rebuild is only just beginning for the Arizona Coyotes and it looks like Dysin Mayo will be around at least for some of it.

The Coyotes on Friday prior to their game against the Vegas Golden Knights announced they signed Mayo, a 25-year-old defenseman, to a three-year contract extension. It keeps the former Coyotes fifth-round draft pick in Arizona after he was set to become a restricted free agent this coming offseason.

The deal for Mayo, according to PuckPedia, is worth $2.85 million over three years. He is the Coyotes' leader in blocked shots with 83 and is third in ice time, averaging 20:45 per game.
