Arizona Coyotes stumble in loss to struggling Maple Leafs

The Coyotes turned in a stinker in a 3-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday at Gila River Arena.

Although the Maple Leafs had lost six straight entering the game and fired head coach Mike Babcock on Wednesday, the Coyotes couldn't do enough to silence the high-flying Maple Leafs.

The Coyotes (13-8-2) finished the three-game homestand with a 2-1-0 record.

Maple Leafs defenseman Tyson Barrie scored in the final seconds of the first period when he walked down the right side and beat Coyotes goaltender Darcy Kuemper with a shot that hit Kuemper's stick blade before going into the net.
