At the start of the season, Rick Tocchet wasn’t being true to himself.
Coming to Arizona following consecutive Stanley Cup victories with the Pittsburgh Penguins as an assistant, Tocchet changed his coaching philosophy in the face of new responsibilities as his first year as head coach of the Coyotes.
Tocchet, who is lauded for his proficiency in communication and one-on-one instruction, admitted during his exit day interview on Monday that he stretched himself too thin during the early months of the 2017-18 season.
“I thought the first two months I wasn't as good as I should have been,” Tocchet said.
