Phillies Quiet in Shutout Loss, Jerad Eickhoff Effective Again

Phillies pitcher Jerad Eickhoff made another strong start Sunday against the Rays, striking out nine batters over six innings in his longest start of the spring so far. He also didn’t walk any batters, but he did allow two runs on four hits.

Tampa Bay’s first run against Eickhoff came in the second inning after Steven Souza Jr. doubled and later scored on a Tim Beckham single. The next run didn’t come until Eickhoff’s last inning of work when Corey Dickerson hit a solo home run in the sixth.

After Eickhoff came off the mound, non-roster invitee Cesar Ramos came to the mound and allowed one run in the seventh.
