What a time to be alive. The Phillies beat the Miami Marlins 8-0. What a time to be Mark Leiter Jr. and and Rhys Hoskins.
Leiter, who was starting in place of an injured Zach Eflin, pitched an absolute gem by tossing seven one-hit innings while striking out five. The right-hander was flawless in mixing speeds and keeping a potent Miami lineup at bay. Two of Leiter’s 21 outs were recorded by way of outfield fly outs.
Hoskins’ onslaught continued, as he went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and five RBI. He now has seven home runs and 16 RBI in his first 14 games.
