Instant analysis: Eagles sign Brandon Brooks to a 4-year contract extension

After weeks of unsettlement, the Eagles are back off their bye and ready to hit the ground running, literally. If there’s one man who has been pivotal in helping the Birds’ establish the run, it’s Brandon Brooks.

The franchise right guard arrived in Philadelphia back in March of 2016, signing a five-year deal worth $40M. After four years of elite play, the Eagles have opted to reward their mauling offensive lineman with a $54.2M contract extension, $30M of which is guaranteed.

Brooks has been on another level this season, which in itself is staggering. It’s scary to think that he spent the entire offseason rehabbing a torn Achilles injury that was originally expected to keep him out for several games.
