While the Philadelphia 76ers went heavy on the shock value this summer, nothing landed quite like Furkan Korkmaz‘s return. It was strange and unexpected news. Not only was Korkmaz bad last season, but he actively demanded a trade at one point. There was even a report he’d be returning to Europe.
Korkmaz finished the season as a bench staple, never seeing much playing time. An end to their relationship felt inevitable, but the basketball gods felt otherwise. Korkmaz signed a one-year, veteran minimum contract to return to his role as a bottom-rung bench contributor.
