Furkan Korkmaz was barely on Philadelphia 76ers‘ fans radar until the first game of summer league in Las Vegas this past July. Honestly, there was really no reason they needed to know beforehand who the heck he was.
The 6-foot-7, 190-pound guard was selected with the 26th pick of the 2016 draft by the 76ers, the third of three first-round selections . He was only 19 years old, and stayed in his native Turkey to play another year of club ball, where he was named the Champions League Best Young Player.
He finally came over last season and signed with the 76ers, although the whispers were it was more him pushing for it than the Sixers thinking he was ready.
